This is an authentic brush pen using weasel hair for the brush tip.
The barrel is made from deer antlers dyed using ancient dyeing techniques by Yukio Yoshioka, the fifth-generation head of "Somemono Yoshioka," which endeavors to recreate traditional Japanese colors using plant dyes.
Kariyasu color is a beautiful, clear yellow obtained by dyeing with the Kariyasu plant.
Kariyasu is a perennial grass of the Poaceae family that grows mainly in mountainous areas from southern to western Honshu. Mount Ibuki in Shiga Prefecture is particularly famous for its Kariyasu production.
This Kariyasu color is one of Japan's representative traditional colors and the oldest yellow, dating back to the Nara period where it was recorded as "Omi Kariyasu" in the "Shosoin Monjo" (Shosoin Documents), attesting to its deep history.
You can enjoy the transparent yellow beauty of Kariyasu, dyed slowly and repeatedly with Kariyasu as a dye.
Comes in a paulownia wood box, perfect for gifts.
